First Minister Nicola Sturgeon met with Professor Alan Miller to thank him for his outstanding contribution as chair of the Scottish Human Rights Commission over the last eight years.
Professor Miller was appointed as the chair of SHRC in 2008 and was instrumental in developing Scotland’s National Action Plan for Human Rights – which has attracted international attention.

She said:
Professor Miller’s commitment to raise awareness of human rights across Scotland is to be commended. He has campaigned to achieve a greater understanding amongst the people of Scotland and further afield on why rights matter, and empower them to claim their rights is to be commended.
I would like to thank Alan for all and I look forward to working with his successor, Judith Robertson.”
