First Minister Nicola Sturgeon sends Eid ul Adha greetings. She said:
I send warmest greetings to everyone in Scotland and across the world celebrating Eid ul Adha.
This day marks new beginnings for the pilgrims in Makkah while completing the final stages of their Hajj and it is a time of reflection for friends and families coming together to celebrate Eid ul Adha. The positive contribution made by Scotland’s Muslim communities to our society is deeply valued, and we appreciate all that they have to offer.
For we are strongest when we are One Scotland, a nation that celebrates diversity. We will continue to stand together against all forms of hate crime and prejudice and redouble our efforts to build a country where we live in strong, resilient and supportive communities and where everyone can live freely and in peace.
May the year ahead bring joy and happiness to you all.”
